Gee's Bend Inspired Potholder Hand Sewing Project On Demand Video

This project is fun to sew!  Introduced with a short presentation about the little-know role played by the women of the Freedom Quilting Bee in helping to advance the Civil Rights movement in the 1960s.  This project is great for stitchers age 9 and up.  This Project is great for Black History Month given the racial dynamics in 20th century Alabama; Women's History Month as a result of the unique role of women using their sewing skills; and for Earth Day as quilts used by these families came from not wasting anything as they created works of art from old clothes, feedbags, and any scrap they could find.  The original eco friendly approach to living!

To create working potholders, Kits are required.  Any other use would be for decorative purposes only.
