Sewing Workshops for Individuals or Groups
At Your Place or At Ellen's Studios!

The Pop Up Sewing Studio is a fresh, new way to learn to sew, expand existing skills or just stitch a fun project! All in the comfort of your own space (or, if you prefer, Ellen can provide the location) and, on your schedule. Ellen Lumpkin Brown is a sewing educator who will guide you or your group through a process of creating with the original power tool, the sewing machine.

With expert knowledge and a warm, effortless style, Ellen teaches sewing by actually making a project from start to finish. All, in a step-by-step fashion. You and your group members will leave the workshop with new skills and a unique project.

Ellen brings everything needed to complete a project in a 2-hour workshop for tweens/teens or a 3-hour workshop for adults. Everything! Sewing machines, scissors, thread, nametags, powerstrips, fabric...everything! All you need to provide is tables, chairs, electricity and your happy self!

There are 3 Types of Workshops

   1. Single Project Workshops - You or your group will stitch a project such as a tote bag, a decorator pillow, or other accessories. This is perfect for any occasion from a Girls' Night Out to a Scout Meeting (yes, there is still a sewing badge!) to a Birthday Party. Adult Workshops are 3 hours and Teen/Tween Workshops are 2 hours.
   2. Introduction to the Sewing Machine - You or your group will learn how to operate a sewing machine including threading, safety, all basic machine functions, utility and decorative stitching and simple troubleshooting.   This Workshop is 90 minutes.
   3. Learn-to-Sew 4-Workshop Series - You or your group will learn how to operate the sewing machine and build a strong foundation of sewing skills through making a variety of fun and useful projects that will each advance your sewing knowledge. Through this set of classes, we will cover fabric selection, how to install a zipper, how to create patch and in-seam pockets, how to follow a sewing pattern and instructions, and make simple garments and accessories.
Adult Workshops are 3 hours and Teen/Tween Workshops are 2 hours and 15 minutes.

What Can We Make?

Choose from a variety of great projects. In Group Workshops, each person makes the same project. An amazing assortment of modern, fun fabrics will be provided so that the actual project variety is nearly endless.

Also, if you have a special item that you'd like to stitch, simply indicate in the comments section, Ellen can probably design something for you. There is a small fee for this service.
